Neodymium (NdFeB)--- Rare Earth

Neodymium magnets are a member of the Rare Earth magnet family. They are the most powerful permanent magnets in the world. They are also referred to as NdFeB magnets, or NIB, because they are composed mainly of Neodymium (Nd), Iron (Fe) and Boron (B). They are a relatively new invention and have only in recent years become affordable for everyday use. What you can achieve "magically" with these magnets is only limited by your imagination ---" Tools For The Thoughtful Magician ".

All magnets are chrome/silver in color, unless noted. Also, all photos shown are the property of Mimesis Magic.

10x the strength
If you've never seen or handled neodymium magnets before, you will be amazed at their strength. Neodymium magnets are over 10x stronger than the strongest ceramic magnets. If you are currently using ceramic magnets in your routine, you could easily use a much smaller neodymium magnet and have greater holding force.

How to handle: When preparing/handling these magnets for your project or magic effect, you will need a large black mat or close-up pad. Visually this will aid in finding the magnet when dropped --- the magnet being silver in color will stand out against the black. Also, you will need plastic tweezers to smoothly handle any gluing/tapping as needed. Then it's a good idea to have a larger magnet to sweep for any lost magnets. If the smaller magnet is within 1 to 1 1/2 feet of the weep, it will be attracted  to the larger magnet easily. Hard learned advice from MIMESIS MAGIC.

What is the best way to glue these magnets?
The best adhesive that we have found for gluing neodymium magnets has been "JB Weld" epoxy, which is available in most hardware and home supply stores. Some have also had good results using "Liquid Nails" and "Gorilla Glue". But, when in doubt --- go to Super Glue gel, especially with the smaller magnets.
